2018 IGSSA Indigenous Round
This week, our netball and hockey teams participated in the IGSSA Indigenous Round.
The initiative started in 2016 with the netball games using specially designed netballs. In 2017 schools were given the opportunity to design their own hockey goal keeper tops. Emily Handcock, a Year 11 student at the time, designed the Santa Maria Hockey jersey, which the players wore again this year.
The round is played at this time to coincide with National Sorry Day. National Sorry Day is an Australia-wide observance held on May 26 each year. The indigenous rounds of sport are played either side of this day, in Weeks 4 and 5.
