2020 Achievers’ Assembly
It is a pleasure to watch our girls find meaning and success in their education at school and beyond. Where there is an emotional connection to learning, an invested teacher and a student who knows the learning strategies that work for them, the sky is the limit.
This week we celebrated our most academically successful 2019 graduates at our Achievers’ Assembly. Students from the ATAR and GENERAL pathways who have achieved outstanding results were congratulated by their parents and all students from Years 7 – 12.
Principal Jennifer Oaten talked about Years 11 and 12 being a marathon and not a sprint. She congratulated our graduates for accessing their strengths and working with passion. Mrs Oaten also advocated for balance in life, encouraging current students to make sure they enjoy exercise, hobbies, service, family and friends and even part-time employment.
Finally, Simone Sawiris, our Deputy Principal, Teaching and Learning, congratulated the whole 2019 cohort. She said, “Much of what is learnt at school is not found in textbooks or the syllabus. There is still much to learn, but with such solid foundations, we can be confident that these young women are well prepared for life beyond Santa Maria.”
We are looking forward to following the progress of all our 2019 graduates. We wish them the opportunity to explore their passions and find the contentment of a life that is meaningful to them.
