7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens

Our Year 9 students have been immersed in Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens during their Transition Program from Middle Years to Senior Years.  Rebecca Kinsella and Rose Speranza enjoyed the opportunity to share these powerful principles and habits with the girls, that will help them live more effectively and internalise principles key to self-mastery and successful relationships.

Students have enjoyed the unique contributions of staff members who have joined us and shared their personal stories of effectiveness, good relationships, vision and valuing synergy.

The program included activities such as Walking the Labyrinth and sand mandalas. In these activities, the girls were encouraged to focus on their emotional and spiritual wellbeing, while they explored the ritual of walking prayerfully in community. These activities will assist the girls to develop skills to still their busy lives and ensure good balance and a healthy lifestyle.

Year 9 student Gemma Andrews had this to say about the day.

“Transition day was a chance to really think about the person I am and the person I want to become. The guest speakers helped me to understand two of the 7 habits of highly effective people. I found the speakers very rewarding because it helped me realise the woman that I want to become in the future. The reflection we completed after each speaker helped because we were able to write down our ideas about what the speaker was talking about and then later in the day, we could look back on those reflections to help with our mission statement and other activities. The artwork was a very relaxing activity to end an awesome day and it was nice to use our creativity in a different form.”

Over three very intense days, the girls have found both excitement and fulfillment as they look to Year 10 full of hope and ready to embrace the adventure!
