Anita is looking forward to being here in Australia and improving her English and seeing first-hand how an Australian school operates as she’d like to become a teacher. She’s also looking forward to seeing how Italian as a second language, is taught to English speakers. Anita is hoping to return home to Italy with a rich knowledge of our culture and way of living.
- Where are you from?
I’m from Lumezzane a small city near Brescia.
- How is it different to Perth?
Brescia is very different from Perth, especially for the Landscape because my city is in the mountains. I’ve just been here, but from what I’ve seen, life here in Perth is less frenetic than in Brescia.
- How long are you in Perth for, are you travelling to any other locations in Australia?
It’s the first time for me here in Australia and I’ve been here in Perth for almost three weeks. No i’m not travelling to any other location.
- What do you like best so far?
I really like the landscape , especially the Australian beaches that are very different from the Italian ones.
- What do you do in Italy? Study/work?
In Italy I’m studying at the university. I study languages for the International Relations at the Catholic University in Brescia.
- Is Santa Maria College much different to the school you went to, if so, how?
Santa Maria College is very different to the school I went to. In Italy the school is organised differently than in Australia, for example in Italy students do not have to change classrooms at all times, so in Italy you have the same classmates for all lessons and for all school years. Another big difference is that Santa Maria College is a girls school while I attended a mixed school.
- What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I love singing and writing songs. I also love cooking Italian desserts to eat with my friends.
- What is your favourite Australian Food?Â
My favourite Australian food at the moment are fish and chips and bbq meats. But I’ve tried kangaroo and I really liked It.
