A Milestone Worth Celebrating – Halfway Day 2026
With six months of learning, leadership, friendship and personal growth behind them, our Year 12 cohort gathered to mark an important milestone in their school journey. While Graduation and Leavers’ celebrations are still ahead, Halfway Day serves as a reminder that every moment of this final year is worth appreciating.
A Chance to Pause and Celebrate
Year 12 can often feel like a whirlwind. Between classes, assessments, co-curricular commitments, leadership responsibilities and planning for life beyond school, it is easy to focus only on what comes next.
Halfway Day offered an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with one another and celebrate the memories already made. It was a day filled with laughter, reflection and a strong sense of gratitude for the experiences shared as a cohort.
The morning provided students with a chance to step away from their busy schedules and enjoy being together, recognising the friendships and connections that have shaped their time at Santa Maria.
Celebrating Growth
Over the past six months, our students have embraced challenges, stepped into leadership roles, supported one another and continued to develop the confidence and independence that will serve them well beyond the College gates.
Halfway Day was celebrated with music, time spent catching up as a group, and delicious brownies baked by the Years 10 and 11 students.
Student Reflections
As they reached the halfway point of their final year, several students reflected on their favourite memories so far.
Chloe, Bronagh, Alyssa and Sophie said their highlight had been serving as leaders together.
For Olivia and Ainslie, their favourite memory was “
Homeroom every morning and spending time with their favourite people every day.”
Addison and Mabel reflected on the excitement of playing Senior IGSSA AFL at Optus Stadium, describing it as their standout moment of the year so far.
Looking Ahead
While Halfway Day celebrates the journey of our Year 12 students. It is also a reminder of the exciting experiences still to come.
With retreats, exams, community events, Graduation and Leavers’ celebrations on the horizon, the second half of the year promises to be both memorable and meaningful.
As the Class of 2026 enters the final stretch of their school journey, we encourage them to embrace every opportunity, support one another and continue creating memories that will last a lifetime.
