A Unique Performance
Drama students from Years 9, 10 and 11 enjoyed a performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in a unique performance opportunity at the Pop-Up-Globe this week.
Sophie Kelly, Performing Arts Captain said, “We are very grateful to have been given the opportunity to view a real-life Shakespearean performance in a replica of the famous Globe Theatre in London. The play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, was authentic to the Elizabethan performance style, while still including some modern twists, which made it more engaging and allowed us to follow the complex storyline and understand the language. The setting was detailed and truly immersed us in the atmosphere of the Elizabethan era. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience.”
Year 10 student Cosma Biagioni, said, “The performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream was really incredible and very well done, actors really committed to their roles and they looked like they had a lot of fun while performing.”
“I liked how they incorporated a lot of contemporary references into the language and movement. I feel that it added a lot of emphasis into the performance and made it so enjoyable.”, said Year 9 student, Emily Berson.
