A Warm Welcome to 2026 – The Parent Sundowner
There is something special about starting the school year together, and the 2026 Parent Sundowner did exactly that. On Friday 6 February, more than 500 parents and staff gathered on the College grounds overlooking the river for an evening designed to connect, welcome and celebrate our community.
College Community
The Parent Sundowner was created with one clear purpose in mind. Helping parents get to know one another and feel part of the College community from the very beginning.
Year group flags dotted the space, making it easy for parents to find others walking the same journey. Conversations flowed easily, introductions were made and familiar faces quickly became friendly ones.
The Deans of Students were in attendance, enjoying the chance to connect with parents in a relaxed setting outside the classroom. These moments of connection matter. Strong relationships between home and school set the foundation for a positive year ahead.
An Evening to Enjoy
Adding to the fun was the splash of red theme. Parents embraced it wholeheartedly, creating a sea of colour that brought energy and unity to the space. It was one of those simple touches that made the night feel memorable and shared.
For many families, the Sundowner has become a cherished tradition. As one parent reflected,
“Another great Sundowner. My last one after eight years. Thank you to all the organisers for making each one so enjoyable.”
Looking Ahead
Events like the Parent Sundowner remind us that Santa Maria College is more than a place of learning. It is a community where relationships matter and everyone belongs.
If you missed this year’s event, we hope you will join us next time. If you were there, thank you for bringing the energy, the conversation and a splash of red.
We look forward to welcoming you again at the 2027 Parent Sundowner.
