Academic Assistance – Supporting Every Student’s Success

Every student deserves the support they need to reach their full potential. Our academic assistance programs are designed to empower students with the skills, resources, and guidance they need to thrive. Whether your daughter needs help with a particular subject, wants to refine her study techniques, or simply needs a structured space to complete her work, we have a range of support options available.
Academic Support Options
Here are some of the key academic assistance resources available to students:
- Classroom Teacher – The first and best point of contact for subject-specific questions. Our teachers are always happy to provide clarification and support.
- Curriculum Help – Our dedicated teachers regularly offer help sessions for Maths, Science and English outside of class time.
- Boarders’ Study – Supervised study sessions designed to provide structured, focused learning time for our boarding students.
- UpGrade Program – A self-paced study skills and organisation portal to help students improve their study habits, time management, and academic strategies.
- TAMS – Peer-to-peer support for students in Years 11 and 12.
- OneNote and SEQTA – Essential online platforms that help students access resources, track assignments, and stay organised.
- Attendance Matters – Consistent attendance is vital for academic success. We encourage students to fully engage in all learning opportunities to maximise their potential.
With these support structures in place, every student has the tools and guidance needed to succeed.

The UpGrade Program
UpGrade is Santa Maria College’s innovative online learning portal, offering self-paced modules to help students develop essential academic and personal skills. Through SEQTA, students can access learning modules covering:
- Organisation and time management
- Note-taking techniques
- Writing PEEL paragraphs for English
- Referencing and research skills
While students are introduced to these modules during their transition to Santa Maria, they may need a reminder to log in and complete relevant modules as needed. Encouraging them to engage with UpGrade can greatly enhance their study habits and overall academic performance.
Staying Informed: Monitoring Academic Progress
Parents play a crucial role in their daughter’s academic journey, and staying informed is key to providing the right support. SEQTA Engage allows parents to access:
- Assessment dates and coursework expectations
- Student results and teacher feedback
- Interim Reports
- Parent-Teacher-Daughter Interviews
If you have specific questions or concerns, we encourage you to contact your daughter’s classroom or homeroom teacher. Our staff are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure every student achieves her best.
Parent-Daughter-Teacher Interviews
Parent-Daughter-Teacher Interviews provide a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to connect, discuss progress, and address any concerns. For students in Years 10 – 12, interviews take place at the end of Term 1, while Years 5 – 9 interviews are scheduled for the middle of Term 2. Boarding families are welcome to attend during either of these times, ensuring flexibility and accessibility for all. Relevant details, including appointment booking instructions, will be emailed to parents in advance.
If you have specific questions or concerns, we encourage you to contact your daughter’s classroom or homeroom teacher at any time. Our staff are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure every student achieves her best.
