ACHPER Dance Festival

During Terms 1 and 2, twelve Year 10 dancers participated in rehearsals to prepare a dance for the ACHPER Dance Festival which took place at St Mary’s Anglican Girls School on Wednesday. This festival was an opportunity for a variety of schools to come together to showcase their dance work from Semester 1. The dance we prepared was a 1930s Lindy Hop inspired routine, which entertained the audience with classic jazz technique and a lively swing energy. The choreography in this dance was energetic and stimulating and kept us all on our toes.

The onstage rehearsal before the performance, brought out the nerves and excitement for the big show; however, when the performance night arrived, there was nothing but laughter and high spirits in our dressing room. We were all extremely excited to perform the piece we had been working so hard on. Once we had finished the dance, relief struck us, but also disappointment as we all wanted to go back out on stage and do it all over again. I know I speak for everyone who participated in this co-curricular, by saying this opportunity was a fun way to interact with fellow students, as well as incorporating everyone’s skills to create an amazing dance.
