The Boat Builders’ Yard at Melbourne’s South Wharf was the venue for a spirited reunion of Santa Maria Old Girls who live far from home. The reunion, held on the 22 February, was attended by 13 women who graduated between 1979 and 2002. The group included the current principal, Jennifer Oaten, who happened to be in Melbourne at the time.

The guests were largely strangers to one another at the start of the evening, but by the end of the night, all had bonded over stories of Santa Maria and their adventures since. Firm connections were made and new friendships developed.

Naturally, the alumni were interested to hear about the direction of the College, how SMC is fairing in sport and academics, and what has changed since they left. All agreed they would like to hold a reunion every second year in Melbourne.
