An Evening of Talent at the 2025 Chorale Concert

The McDonald Building was buzzing with excitement as over 230 students came together to perform in our term 1 Chorale Concert.

Families, friends and staff filled the seats to support students from Years 5 to 12, who performed a range of contemporary songs they’ve been working on this term. With a mix of energy, emotion and incredible teamwork, the night was a real celebration of the Music program at Santa Maria College.

Our Performers

The concert featured performances from all six of our College choirs and chorales:

  • AcaMaria Choir
  • Years 5 & 6 Choir
  • Year 7 Choir
  • Year 8 Choir
  • Years 9 & 10 Chorale
  • Years 11 & 12 Chorale

Each group brought their unique energy to the stage, from the joyful enthusiasm of our younger students to the polished, powerful harmonies of our senior chorale. It was clear that weeks of hard work, laughter and learning had gone into every performance.

Directed With Passion

Behind each group is a dedicated director who has guided our students through countless rehearsals with patience and creativity:

  • Jessica MacLean Black, Music Teacher, led the Years 5 & 6 Choir and Years 9 & 10 Chorale
  • Bronwen Herholdt, Music Tutor, directed the Year 7 and Year 8 Choirs
  • Paul Kinsella, Head of Music, guided the Senior Chorale (Years 11 & 12)

We were also treated to beautiful accompaniment from pianist and music tutor Olivia Ying, whose talents added a polished touch to each song.

Stepping Into Leadership

Our Music Captain, Tess, did a brilliant job as MC for the evening. With confidence and warmth, she introduced each performance and made sure everything ran smoothly. This is a fantastic example of student leadership in action.

Tess shares, “The girls have worked so hard during this first term, and it was great to see their efforts rewarded with fantastic performances.”

Lessons Beyond the Lyrics

The Choral Concert was a chance for students to step up, support one another and be part of something bigger. That’s what makes nights like this so special at Santa Maria.

Congratulations to all the students who performed. Your courage, teamwork and joy lit up the stage and made everyone incredibly proud.
