Ballet Studio is Tiahna’s Second Home

Congratulations to Year 6 student Tiahna Commins, who has successfully auditioned for the Royal Ballet School Spring Intensive program, which will be held in Hong Kong next year. The Royal Ballet School are internationally, one of the best ballet schools in the world and based in London.  They are now offering international training at their Hong Kong facility as well as in Covent Garden, London.  Tiahna will be training with them full time for a week in Hong Kong doing classical, pointe, character and contemporary.

Tiahna has been studying ballet since she was 3 years old and with the same ballet teacher since she was 5.  The Principal of her ballet school suggested she submit an application for this program. The application process involved an audition, where she was asked a series of questions about her training. She had photos taken of her doing a series of ballet poses, which were submitted to the International selection panel. This panel looked at Tiahna’s technique and form as well as muscles and body shape.

We asked Tiahna what she loves about ballet. “It is graceful and I find it really relaxing if I am stressed.  I have amazing teachers and I love spending time with them training.  I also love seeing my progression over the years and watching my old videos to see how far I have come.  I feel like the ballet studio is my second home.”
