Be Bold, Be Brave, Be You
It is widely known that camps offer a holistic approach to education, complementing academic learning with experiential, social and emotional growth. They provide students with valuable skills, memories, and experiences that contribute to their overall development.
This week, our Year 6 students and their teachers embarked on an exciting expedition at Kerem Adventure Camp in Bullsbrook.
The girls participated in a wide range of activities that kept them engaged and energised. From archery and orienteering to night walks, spy games, low and high ropes courses, and rock climbing, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Principal, Jennifer Oaten, paid a visit to the girls, chatting with them about some of their highlights, and awarded commendation cards to those who displayed great initiative, courage and leadership skills.
Jennifer also congratulated all students on really embracing the theme of this year’s camp – be bold, be brave, be you.
“The Year 6 camp encourages our students to challenge themselves, develop their independence and grow in confidence that they can achieve anything they set their mind to. Time outside the classroom helps form new friendships and enables students to shine in different ways. Some who struggle with maths shine on the high ropes course! A highlight is seeing the students support and encourage each other when they are challenged.”, says Jennifer.Â

For me, the highlight of the camp was the high ropes because it was exciting to be up high and go on the zipline. I learned that I am good at rock climbing and an obstacle I overcame was working through archery. It was difficult to get the arrow on the target. Although it was wet and cold for us, I pushed myself to try new things. Vivienne Bottecher-Hunt, 6.6
A highlight of the camp was spy games on the first night. I really liked how you had to hide from the guards (our teachers!) and find the chests working as a team. On camp, I learned that I shouldn’t always hang out with the same people because if you spend time with others, you can have even more fun and learn new interests and more about yourself. A challenge I faced on camp was overcoming my fears. During rock-climbing, I was so scared that I was going to fall, but I was totally safe and had so much fun! Heidi Jofirisi, 6.9
Overall, the camp provided a valuable learning experience beyond the confines of the classroom. Countless special memories were created, fostering personal growth, resilience, and a sense of achievement.
The true highlight of the camp was the incredible camaraderie and genuine joy displayed by the girls as they cheered each other on while taking on fresh new challenges. Witnessing their support and encouragement towards one another was fantastic!
