An excited group of six students and Home Economics teacher Carolyn Vlahov, recently enjoyed a tour of the Crown Metropol and Towers, viewing their multi-faceted restaurants, bars and venue spaces.
The group were accompanied by The Crown’s Food & Beverage Trainer & Assessor, Tracey Finlay and Venue Manager, Emma Cox, who showed us through the new complex, including a level 15 suite, private restaurants for Crystal Class members and the beautiful TWR bar with its Art Deco-inspired interior design. The group were allowed to view many ‘back of house’ and ‘front of house’ operations, normally reserved for staff access only.
Being shown through the setup of a Crown Ballroom provided a great opportunity for the girls to view the Hospitality Management team in action while they were training a group of apprentices in how to make a delicious white chocolate, almond and aqua mousse. This dessert had been meticulously prepared over three days and included a spray painting process to ensure all the mousses were exactly the same in colour and texture. The Chef de Patisserie was extremely knowledgeable and happy for the girls to taste a sample.
Our tour guides gave the girls an inspirational look into careers within the hospitality industry at Crown, and also spoke to them about career pathways for future study in Hospitality Management and Events Management.
A truly valuable and enjoyable morning for the girls who were very grateful to have had the opportunity to attend.
