Boarders Attend AFLW Derby
- February 19, 2020

We were two of the 60 lucky boarders to witness the first women’s derby at Optus Stadium. The friendly College catering staff packed us a delicious meal with a special Tim-Tam treat (the best bit). Once we all collected our packed dinner and were ticked off the roll, we were on our way. The atmosphere was amazing; everyone was buzzing with excitement. 35,000 people surrounded us, cheering on the determined players.

While we were watching the game, we were entertained by a vegan activist running onto the oval, she was waving a flag and managed to run quite a distance before a Fremantle player tackled her to the ground.
The Fremantle Dockers took home the win, but the Eagles will be back next time to give it their all. It wasn’t a close game, but the experience was incredible. Catching public transport to and from the stadium was very convenient, and it helped us become more independent.

We would like to thank Mrs Carmody, Mrs Pilling, Helen and Jen for accompanying us on this excursion. It was unbelievable and we hope to do it again sometime.
