Bonjour! Ciao! Celebrating Languages Day
Santa Maria College came alive with the sights, sounds and tastes of France and Italy on Tuesday, as we celebrated Languages Day.
This special event is all about bringing language to life. Our students were immersed in the vibrant French and Italian cultures, through art, music, games and delicious cuisine. From face painting and bracelet making to Eiffel Tower colouring and Ferrari-themed art, the day sparked plenty of curiosity and creativity.
Highlights included:
- A quiz challenge on famous French and Italian cultural icons
- Blindfolded geography games that tested teamwork and map knowledge
- A themed Instagram photo booth (with some very stylish poses)
- Music from French and Italian artists
- Tasting traditional treats like brioche and Savoiardi biscuits

Senior Language students added colour and energy by dressing in national colours and costumes, sharing their love of language learning with the younger girls.
Learning a language is a gateway to understanding the world and connecting with others. Languages Day was a joyful reminder of how powerful, fun and inclusive that journey can be.
