Caritas Day Brings Fun, Fundraising and Faith into Action
Caritas Day brought a vibrant energy to the College, with students gathering at stalls, spending time with friends and supporting Project Compassion.
That is part of what makes the day so special. It is fun, busy and full of movement, but underneath it all is something far more meaningful. Every stall, every purchase and every gold coin donation helps turn a school event into real support for others.
A Day Built Around Giving
Caritas Day gives students a simple way to be part of something bigger than themselves. No grand gestures required. Just showing up, joining in and giving what they can.
That is the quiet strength of the day. A cupcake, a game, a lucky dip, a raffle ticket. Small moments that come together to create something that truly matters.

Stalls with Purpose
Caritas Day came to life through the many stalls run by our College Service groups, each one raising funds for Project Compassion in a fun and engaging way.
In the lead-up, students invested time, creativity and care into preparing their stalls, finding thoughtful ways to encourage participation while supporting a meaningful cause.
Just Leadership offered a card game, ice creams with toppings and pizzas at lunchtime. Young Mercies sold the ever-popular sour strap lollies, while the Ministry Team sold slavery-free chocolate bars and ran an Easter raffle. Young Vinnies served hot chips, Seeds of Justice prepared lolly bags, and the Celebrating People and Diversity group hosted a ‘Guess the Number of Lollies in the Jar’ competition.
Together, these stalls created a lively atmosphere across the College and showcased the generosity, initiative and teamwork behind Caritas Day.
Why Project Compassion Matters
Project Compassion gives Caritas Day its deeper purpose, reminding students that even small acts of generosity can make a meaningful difference beyond the College gates.
More Than a Fun Day
Caritas Day reflects our Mercy values in a way students can genuinely experience. Service is seen in the work behind each stall. Justice is reflected in the purpose of the fundraising. Compassion is present in every decision to take part and support others.
That is why the day matters. It shows students that giving does not need to be complicated to be meaningful. Sometimes it begins with something as simple as stepping up to a stall and choosing to be involved.
Long after the stalls are packed away, this is what remains. Students saw what can happen when a community comes together for a shared cause. They experienced how a fun day at school can also be a day of purpose.
Service Captain, Olivia hopes that this Caritas Day, students developed a stronger understanding of our Mercy value of Justice.
“I hope students recognise that every person deserves fairness, dignity, and access to basic needs, no matter where they are in the world. Beyond simply raising money for Project Compassion, it’s about becoming aware that injustice exists and understanding that we have both the responsibility and the power to make a difference. Above all, I hope students saw the importance of coming together as a community, supporting one another, and contributing to positive change.”
That is a powerful lesson to learn early. That joy and service can sit side by side, and that helping others can begin with whatever is right in front of you.
