From the Principal – Parent Engagement

The topic of Parent Engagement as opposed to Parent Involvement is an important one for all schools. Parents are the primary educators and we must never forget this. Yes, the school plays an important part in your daughter’s education but values and attitudes are formed at home. When the home environment and school environment are complimentary, learning is enhanced.

Santa Maria Screen Awards 2017

The inaugural Santa Maria Screen Awards were held at the College last night. Students, staff and parents walked the red carpet, while the paparazzi snapped away looking for the best celebrity shots!

State Winners in RACI Crystal Growing Competition

Congratulations to the following girls, who through the Mini Ladies in Lab Coats co-curricular group, recently won their state year division in the RACI Crystal Growing Competition. Students had to grow their own crystals in six weeks.

2017 College Award Winners

At our recent Valedictory Assembly we acknowledged the achievement and commitment shown by our Year 12 students. We congratulate all students who received Vocational and Education and Training (VET) Certificates, Course Awards, Academic Excellence and our College awards.

Santa Maria Wins JIGSSA Carnival

The JIGSSA Athletics carnival was held on Monday and for the first time ever was a combined Year 5 and 6 extravaganza. Given that a carnival of this size for out Junior years had been in the pipeline for a number of years, it was so exciting to see the day go ahead and with so much success.

Final Day in Boarding

On Thursday the last official day for Year 12 students was celebrated at the College. The girls in Boarding dressed in a range of costumes for the start of the day.

Explore8 Starts

Today the Year 8s were introduced to the Explore8 Enhanced Learning Program. The theme for Explore8 this year is ‘Innovate in Explore8’.

Zonta House Appeal

Zonta House is an organisation that the College supports through our Service Program. On 16 – 29 October Zonta House are appealing to the College community for donations of new and/or used items for the Zonta House Refuge Association. 

Year 9 Marine Science Students Visit Penguin Island

The Year 9 Marine Science class are visiting Penguin Island today, part of the Shoalwater Marine Park. The girls will attend an interactive penguin feeding session and enjoy a cruise of the area where they can view local wildlife such as dolphins and sea lions.

Year 11 Parent Sundowner

On Friday night, Year 11 Parents enjoyed ‘Bubbles on the Balcony’ at their final social gathering before the their girls start Year 12.

Friendship Workshop

Years 6, 7 and 8 students had the opportunity this week to take part in a Friendship workshop facilitated by Nikki Davis from Enlighten Education.
