Mentoring Program

The Year 9 IGNITE students have been offered an exciting opportunity, to be a part of Santa Maria College’s inaugural Mentor Program. The Mentor Program is a one to one working relationship between a Santa Maria College alumni and one of our Year 9 IGNITE students.

Outreach Day

Outreach Day marks the launch of our annual winter appeal, where the College focuses on fundraising and raising awareness of disadvantaged people in our local community, who are doing it tough during the cold winter months.

Homelessness – We Care

Jane Armstrong (Class of 1993) and her partner Sim run a non-profit group called Homelessness We Care – WA. Every Tuesday night you can find them on Wellington Street feeding the homeless and providing many necessary services. Jane and Sim have been actively running the group for approximately two years.

Old Girls’ Association High Tea

On Friday 5 May, the Old Girls’ Association held their Mother Daughter High Tea at the College. This event is held annually for old girls who currently have daughters at the College. Thirty mothers and their daughters enjoyed an afternoon celebrating the special relationship between mothers and daughters.

Sea Trek

Over the April school holidays, the Year 11 Outdoor Education class went on camp to Shark Bay.

Surfs Up

The Year 12 Outdoor Education class recently got to show off their surfing skills at their Surf Exhibition camp.

Science Outreach Program

Our IGNITE students got to experience a little bit of university life as part of the Curtin University Science Outreach program.

Year 11 Biology Camp

Our Year 11 students recently spent two days conducting fieldwork, helping gather data for the Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Halogen Leaders Conference

In March our Year 11 Student Representative council attended the 2017 Halogen Leaders Conference. Speakers included Halogen’s founder Sam Skinner, Tracy Vo, and Brad Ness.

Easter Choral Concert

Marking an end to what has been a very busy term for our music students, the Easter Choral Concert showcased not only sacred choral works but also pieces that each choir had prepared in Term 1.

Rock Ya Socks Off 2017

In March the College hosted a concert with bands from Years 9 to 12 performing work from artists like Fleetwood Mac and Smash Mouth.

Cruising on the Swan

Year 10 students recently attended a river cruise hosted by St. Hilda’s School for Girls, where they got to mingle with students from other boarding schools across Perth.
