Artist in Residence – Andrew Frazer
This year’s Artist In Resident is the amazing Andrew Frazer. “Art brings creativity and I am looking forward to seeing that come through in the students art as they overlay their character’s on the nature background”.
Reconciliation and Sorry Day
Today in Wellington Square, Perth our Just Leadership group attended a very special event. The girls prepared and served morning tea to Indigenous Elders and organised activities for the public as part of Sorry Day.
Wellbeing Workshop for Staff
Teaching staff attended a Mercy Wellbeing Workshop on Monday, created and facilitated by staff members: Marsha Pengilly, Dominique Wood, Kelly Wiggett, Beth O’Regan and Tracy Webster. The future direction of Mercy Wellbeing at the College was presented.
Year 9 Social
On Friday 12 May, the Year 9s hosted the Aquinas students for this year’s social event, held here at Santa Maria College.
Active Wellbeing
This week our Year 8 girls were involved in a session on active wellbeing. The girls were able to select a an activity of interest from taking a walk along the river, yoga, drawing, craft, crochet or making stress balls and then learning how to juggle.
Grace Selected in State Hockey Team
Congratulations to Grace Foster (Year 6) who has been selected in the U/13 Western Australia State Hockey team.
Mentoring Program
The Year 9 IGNITE students have been offered an exciting opportunity, to be a part of Santa Maria College’s inaugural Mentor Program. The Mentor Program is a one to one working relationship between a Santa Maria College alumni and one of our Year 9 IGNITE students.
Outreach Day
Outreach Day marks the launch of our annual winter appeal, where the College focuses on fundraising and raising awareness of disadvantaged people in our local community, who are doing it tough during the cold winter months.
Year 7 Mother Daughter Evening
The Mother Daughter Evening, held on Wednesday, was a great time for mothers and daughters to come together for some quiet, reflective time together.
Homelessness – We Care
Jane Armstrong (Class of 1993) and her partner Sim run a non-profit group called Homelessness We Care – WA. Every Tuesday night you can find them on Wellington Street feeding the homeless and providing many necessary services. Jane and Sim have been actively running the group for approximately two years.
Old Girls’ Association High Tea
On Friday 5 May, the Old Girls’ Association held their Mother Daughter High Tea at the College. This event is held annually for old girls who currently have daughters at the College. Thirty mothers and their daughters enjoyed an afternoon celebrating the special relationship between mothers and daughters.
Year 9 Japanese Cooking Demonstration
Year 9 students and parents were recently invited to a Japanese cooking demonstration from Chef David Weightman
Visual Arts Tour to the Big Apple
During the April school holidays, Visual Art and Design students toured New York visiting over twenty art galleries and museums.
Sea Trek
Over the April school holidays, the Year 11 Outdoor Education class went on camp to Shark Bay.

Easter Choral Concert
Marking an end to what has been a very busy term for our music students, the Easter Choral Concert showcased not only sacred choral works but also pieces that each choir had prepared in Term 1.
