Celebrating Two New Young Saints

This weekend, in Rome, Pope Leo XIV will canonise two extraordinary young Catholics: Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati. While the ceremony will take place in Italy, the impact of their lives and their call to live faith with courage and creativity, reaches all the way into classrooms here in Australia.

Why This Canonisation Matters

Carlo and Pier Giorgio show us that holiness isn’t something distant or reserved for the past. It is alive, practical, and relevant today. Their stories challenge us to live our faith not just on Sundays, but in the everyday moments of school, family, and community life.

  • Carlo Acutis (1991-2006) used technology to share the beauty of the Eucharist and the joy of faith.
  • Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901-1925) dedicated his short life to serving the poor and living joyfully with friends and family.

Together, they remind us that being close to God is not about perfection – it is about using our gifts boldly and with love.

Marking the Celebration in Australia

We plan to mark this special occasion with a prayer during Homeroom on Monday:

Let us pray

Dear God
Help us live like Carlo and Pier Giorgio – bold, kind, and real.
Show us how to use our gifts, our voices, and our hearts to make a difference, lift others up, and shine a bit of Your light every day.
Keep us curious, brave, and full of hope.
Amen

Living Their Legacy

As we celebrate the canonisation of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati, may their lives inspire us to see faith as something dynamic and alive in our world today. Their courage, joy, and generosity remind us that holiness is possible for all, in classrooms, on sports fields, in our families, and in our communities. In this Jubilee Year, a time of renewal and hope for the whole Church, their example invites us to embrace God’s mercy, live with purpose, serve with love, and bring light into the everyday moments of our lives.
