Class of 2024 – Achievers’ Assembly

Today we welcomed back the Class of 2024 for the traditional Year 13 Breakfast and Achievers’ Assembly. The girls were acknowledged in front of the school community for their achievements in both the ATAR and ACCESS pathways.

In 2024, Santa Maria College was very pleased to be named as a Top Performing School in the state in nine ATAR courses. These courses are:

  • English
  • Modern History
  • Politics and Law
  • Religion & Life

Many students from the Class of 2024 have received awards from the Curriculum Authority and we are extremely proud of their efforts.

Certificates of Merit

In 2024, 39 Santa Maria students received Certificates of Merit. These certificates are awarded to students based on the number of A grades achieved in Years 11 & 12 ATAR and General Courses. A certificate of Merit represents the epitome of academic success for our ACCESS students.

Subject Exhibition

A Subject exhibition is awarded to the student who achieves the highest examination mark in a particular ATAR course in the whole of Western Australia.

We are thrilled to announce that receiving a Subject Exhibition award for Visual Arts is Isabel Martinez.

Isabel also received a Subject Certificate of Excellence for Visual Arts, a Certificate of Distinction, and an ATAR of 96+.

Highest ATAR

We are thrilled to congratulate, Jessica Bolden who achieved the highest ATAR in the cohort. In addition to the highest ATAR ranking, Jessica also received:

  • A Subject Exhibition for Drama – meaning that like Isabel she was the highest achieving ATAR student in the state – for Drama.
  • A Subject Certificate of Excellence for Drama
  • A Certificate of Distinction
  • And an Outstanding achievement scholarship with ECU

 Jennifer Surace – Class of 2002

Jennifer Surace was today’s guest speaker, sharing her inspiring journey since graduating from Santa Maria College. Having lived overseas for many years as a French, German, and Russian translator, Jennifer spoke about her experiences, including her time in Ukraine, where she assisted the Red Cross in critical translation work.

She encouraged students to make the most of their time at school by exploring different subjects and getting involved in a variety of co-curricular activities. By embracing new experiences, she explained, students can discover their true passions and gain valuable skills for the future.
