Farewell Libby Wilkes – Jennifer Oaten
- November 20, 2020

The College Advisory Council is a group composed of parents, a young alumni member, a Mercy Sister, and individuals who bring different talents to the group. Their expertise and passion may lie in faith, finances, development, wellbeing, technology, law, or any other valuable skillset.
The College Advisory Council provides advice and support to me, as principal, and the College. Members of the council are valued for their wisdom and the contribution they make to the functioning of the College. They work together on many aspects of College life including:
- Promoting our Mercy ethos
- Approving College finances and budgets
- Supporting the College with capital developments
- Discussing and approving strategic planning
- Promoting positive relationships both within the College community and between the College and the wider community.

Libby Wilkes
On Tuesday I farewelled Libby Wilkes who first joined the College community as a student. She graduated in the Class of 1984. Libby reconnected with the College when her daughters, Emily (Class of 2014), Kate (Class of 2015), and Jessica (Class of 2018), completed their education at the College.
Parent Network and Parent Council
As a parent, Libby has made an exceptional contribution to our community over many years. She was a part of the Parent Network and Parent Council from 2009 – 2018. Libby has dedicated many hours to volunteering and rallying teams of volunteers to support and assist the College to build a sense of community.
College Advisory Council
Libby joined the College Advisory Council as a member in 2012 and was appointed Chair in 2017. She has given nine years of service and commitment to this group who assist in steering the College. Libby has been an outstanding chairperson, ensuring the council was committed to making Santa Maria College a better place with our girls at the centre of all decisions.
Libby is a faith-filled individual who embodies our Mercy spirit and values. She is an advocate of the College who speaks with passion and loyalty and will be greatly missed in our community.
We say farewell and thank you to Libby for her incredible commitment and contributions to Santa Maria College over many years but know she will continue to be a proud past parent and graduate of the College.
Good-bye and God Bless.
