Congratulations Bella & Jorja

Congratulations to Year 9 student Bella Connelly and Year 8 student Jorja Squiers who were selected to Under 13 Girls State Talent Development Teams for hockey. The girls played in the Future Thundersticks Classic last weekend. The competition is a high-level tournament for WA’s most talented young players. The tournament was developed to take the place of the National Championships, which were cancelled due to COVID.

Bella has been playing hockey since she was four. She started by playing Hookin2Hockey, a hockey training program for young kids. Jorja has been playing her favourite sport for eight years. The girls play for Aquinas Reds and Bella plays for Corrigin Hockey Club when she’s at home.

Jorja said, “To me, it means a lot to be selected since I have come from a small country town where there aren’t as many opportunities as there are here. Representing my state is something pretty special, which I am proud of.”

When asked what she loves most about hockey, Bella said, “I love meeting new people in my team, as I have played for my home team, my Perth club and I have also played for two state teams with new people.

The girls have been training hard and were chosen after going through multiple trials and Academy training sessions.
