Cross Country News
Our cross country squad has been training hard since Week 8 of Term 1. We’ve had fantastic numbers in attendance at each training session. We utilise the beautiful running tracks (and hills!) around the College to train for our events.Â
Last Friday, we took 71 runners to the All Schools Cross Country event (SSWA). The students aged 12 and 13 years ran a 3km race, and the students aged 14 -17 years ran 4km. The weather was kind to us, no one had to run in the rain!Â
We had some fantastic results, with seven of our students placing in the top 20 for their age category. Four of these were offered places on the state cross country squad.
We also had students who have returned after having Covid (two students were only one day out of isolation!), and some returned from injury. One brave student was tripped in her race, but she got back up again to finish. We are very proud of how resilient our students are! We had a course marshal comment on how beautifully behaved, and well-mannered our students were when they were spectating, which is always nice to hear!
The girls are now preparing for the IGSSA Cross Country on 17 June.
Big thanks to our cross country staff, Emma Wood, Rosie Brady, Jodie White, Ben Walker, and Jacinta O’Connor, for making the day happen.
