Cutting-Edge Creativity

Year 9 students using Cricut Maker 3 in a fashion class

We know that having access to the right resources can make all the difference in a student’s learning experience. Thanks to Parent Levy funds, our Year 9 Fashion students have just had their first hands-on experience with our new Cricut Maker 3 machines, and they’re already seeing the benefits!

The Parent Levy In Action

Each year, a voluntary Parent Council Levy is included in the year’s fees and charges, and it plays a key role in enhancing the student experience. These donations help us purchase valuable, smaller-scale resources that wouldn’t typically be covered in the school budget – but still have a big impact in the classroom.

One of the best parts? Parents have a say in where these funds go! Towards the end of the year, staff submit project proposals, and parents vote on which initiatives should be prioritised. The most popular projects receive funding, ensuring that these contributions directly support what matters most to our community.

A great example? Our Fashion program recently received $1,300 to purchase two brand-new Cricut Maker 3 machines. These state-of-the-art machines allow students to:

  • Cut fabric with precision
  • Create intricate appliqué designs
  • Complete projects with greater efficiency

It’s hands-on learning at its best!

What Our Student Had To Say

"In class, we got creative with Cricut machines, designing and cutting our own custom bag patterns! It's been such a fun process, and I can't wait to start working on my personalised hoodie next."

"Using the Cricut machine was such an enjoyable experience. I loved exploring all the creative possibilities of making my own custom print, and it felt amazing to watch my designs come to life."

Thank You!

We are incredibly grateful to our Santa Maria families for their continued support.
