Dress For Compassion

Santa Maria was decked out in winter-themed decorations today, while students and staff dressed in blue and grey.

Dress for Compassion is a new initiative this year to raise funds for our Winter Appeal. It takes the place of our annual Outreach Day. Students and staff made a gold coin donation for the honour of not wearing their usual uniform or work clothes. Donations will go towards our Winter Appeal in support of St Patricks, St Vinnies and Shopfront.

Service Captain, Teyha Conroy explains: “2020 is our year of Compassion. So far, the year has proved to be an extremely trying time for all in our community, due to the spread of Coronavirus. This has proved to not only put a strain on the agencies, such as St Patricks, Shopfront and St Vincent de Paul’s homeless facilities but also has prevented our community from being able to assist as we have in previous years. We have continued to hold our Winter Appeal to support these agencies, but unfortunately this year we are unable to hold our annual Outreach Day. So, we decided instead, to hold a free dress day with a winter colour theme of blue and grey.”
