Eagles Star Dana Hooker Visits Year 10 Class

The Year 10 Physical Education class welcomed Dana Hooker this week. Dana plays in the West Coast Eagles Women’s team.

Dana spoke about the club’s Soar Wellbeing Series. The series fosters the development of skills, knowledge and strategies for girls.

The aim of the series is to promote healthy attitudes and practices in young women. The series gives girls the skills to take responsibility for their wellbeing and discover how good they can be.

The principles covered include striving to be the best version of yourself no matter what your passion. It’s about excellence in preparation to be your best and grow your confidence.

Year 10 student, Alli Nokes, enjoyed the talk and said “Dana gave us the opportunity to have an insight into her life as a professional AFLW football player and how she balances her life as an athlete, mother and having a job. She spoke to our class regarding what it takes to takes to become an elite athlete. She taught us some of the qualities that elite athletes have, such as perseverance, determination, sacrifice and many more. We also spoke about the idea of dreams and goals in our lives, learning that our goals are the steps we take in achieving our dreams. This was an amazing opportunity to be a part of and to learn about Dana’s life and what it takes to become an elite athlete.”
