Easter Choral Concert

The Easter Choral Concert was held on Wednesday 5 April, and was the final event for what has been a very busy Term 1 for our music students.

The first part of the program featured sacred choral works, as a time of reflection during this Lenten period. The Orchestra performed Giovanni Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, with soloists Sinead Smithies (Year 11, Dillon) and Music Teacher Evanna Brando, giving a powerful and stirring performance. The senior chorales followed, singing works including the Irish traditional Be Thou My Vision, and a sacred setting of the text from Psalm 103, Bless the Lord O My Soul.

The second part of the program featured each of the Years 5 to 12 choirs and chorales, showcasing the contemporary works they have prepared this term. We were thrilled to officially welcome our newest Year 5 students to the music community, and the concert saw each of the Year level choirs giving outstanding performances of a wide variety of repertoire.

Sincere thanks to the wonderful audience of family, friends and staff who filled the McDonald Building to support the music students. Over 250 students performed throughout the evening, and we are very fortunate to have so many dedicated and talented singers within the Choral Program. This final event for the term was a wonderful celebration of choral music and we look forward to our next performance early in Term 2.
