Congratulations to Ellie Fowler (Year 8) who has received a full scholarship position for the National Training Centre’s Under 14 Girls Soccer Team.

We asked Ellie about this opportunity.

I attended three trials and was selected, as well as 16 other girls, to be part of the squad. This scholarship means that I am on a pathway to becoming a professional soccer player.

It’s a big commitment; I attend three training sessions each week and one game on the weekend. There is a core program I have to commit to weekly and we also have a camp and team-building days. I also attend most Matildas and Perth Glory games, marching at the start, or as ball girl, collecting the ball when it leaves the pitch.

I’ve been playing soccer since I was in Year 1 but didn’t start playing properly until Year 4. I love beating the boys and the atmosphere of being in this team, or as we call it – a little family.
