Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: 2024 Leadership Training Day
Each year, a group of our dedicated staff has the honour of working closely with our incoming student leaders, embarking on a transformative journey of leadership development.
This year, Melissa Trolio, our Director of Mission, generously devoted her time to guide our newly elected leaders in embracing the fundamental principles of servant leadership. At the core of her message was a profound lesson: to become a great leader, one must first learn the art of being a servant. During this enlightening session, our students delved deep into the facets of servant leadership, exploring concepts like active listening, empathy, social awareness, and responsible stewardship of our planet. They were encouraged to ponder how these qualities could manifest in their leadership roles and translate into meaningful actions.
In addition to these thought-provoking discussions, our emerging leaders engaged in insightful reflections on broader themes. These encompassed envisioning the school of the future, nurturing diversity, and devising innovative strategies to amplify student voices within our College community. Furthermore, our students played an active role in contributing their ideas to the ongoing ‘The Bigger Picture Campaign,’ a visionary project initiated by the outgoing Student Leadership Council in partnership with Aquinas College. This initiative is set to evolve and expand throughout this year and the next, with a grand mission to nurture and promote positive relationships among our youth.
The 2024 Leadership Training Day was a pivotal moment in the journey of our future leaders, where they imbibed essential values and learned to dream big for themselves and our school. We can’t wait to witness the positive impact they will create as they apply these lessons in their leadership roles, leaving a lasting mark on our school and the world beyond.
