Explore8 is well underway and the girls are completing their ideation stage of the design thinking process. Many are now up to designing their prototype for their project. I hope to see lots of girls busy creating and building models of their solutions next week.Guest Speakers and new ideasThe students have very much enjoyed the guest speakers who have spoken to them on many different themes. We have been very fortunate to have a number of ex-students speak to the girls about their career pathways and how they have been innovative in their work. Sarah Henn from 2009 talked to the girls about her work in Cancer Research, and Ashleigh Nelson spoke to the girls about her career in Hockey and her work with RUOk. Staff member Amanda Huxtable talked to the girls about her work with St Yareds and all of the innovations they have put in place to help find solutions for the lack of education for children in Addis Ababa.
New Ideas
Today the girls were also involved in some sessions that looked at innovations in music and how music has changed and developed through time. Mr Keskinisids shared with the girls his love of world music and introduced them to many types of music they had never heard before. Miss Rooke then lead the girls though a session on movement and improvisation, designed to get them thinking creatively. The girls have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be exposed to so many new ideas.
Explore8 Exhibit – Awards Night
I wish to invite you to the display of our Explore8 projects. This will take place from 5.00pm on Wednesday 29 November, prior to Awards Night. Please come along with your daughter to view her work and also take some time to move around the plaza to look at work created by other students. The innovations and ideas that our girls are working on are fantastic and it will be lovely to see the results of all their hard work.
