Exploring Pathways for Academic and Career Planning
Santa Maria College recently hosted its Year 10 Course Expo, an event designed to showcase the vast array of courses available to Years 11 and 12 students.
The expo, held to provide parents with an understanding of the various pathways available to their daughters at school and beyond, attracted representatives from universities, TAFE institutions, the Defence Force, and the Police Force.
With new options emerging each year, both parents and students must stay well-informed about the diverse possibilities available.
The expo offered an immersive experience, with each learning area showcasing their courses through informative displays and ample resources. Staff were present to provide detailed information about their respective courses and the career pathways associated with them. This enabled students and parents to gain a deeper understanding of the subjects and make informed decisions based on their interests and aspirations.
A wide range of courses and subject areas were represented at the expo, ensuring that all students had access to information relevant to their academic and career interests.
From Home Economics, Languages, and Music to Visual Arts, Outdoor Education, and Dance, every discipline was well-represented, catering to the diverse interests and talents of our students. Â
Prior to the expo, Year 10 students participated in their Pathway Planning Day on Monday, where they were presented with course selection information and some excellent resources, such as the 2023 Learn Course Handbook.
Students are also continually encouraged to access the Careers Hub via SEQTA, which provides links to a wide range of resources, including the WACE requirements, ACCESS Pathway, TAFE certificate courses and university course information.
The Pathway Planning Day, in conjunction with the Year 10 Course Expo, empowers students to make well-informed decisions about their academic and career paths. By offering a platform for exploration and access to valuable resources, Santa Maria College remains committed to nurturing the aspirations and dreams of its students, setting them on a path towards a successful and fulfilling future.
