Farewell Year 12s
This year’s Year 12 Farewell Day was memorable for the grace and dignity with which the girls conducted themselves during the day. They arrived on the Figure 8 for a photo shoot to start the day. Costumes were colourful and clever, and there was much laughter as they posed for photos.
House meetings followed where they received their time capsules created in Year 8. The girls were farewelled by their House members with videos and well wishes. Brunch was joyful, and the concert held in their honour was terrific. The traditional final bell rang at 3.20 pm and signalled the end of their classes.
Graduation Mass the following evening was a special time to reflect on their faith journey at the College with their parents. The presentation of awards and a House graduation ceremony completed the evening’s formalities.
Finally, the Celebration Evening on the Terrace on Friday night was a superb way to celebrate their time at the College. The Swing Band and Soul Band set the tone for the evening with their upbeat renditions and vocals by Ciara Sadler, Sofia Scafetta and Mikalia Haddon.
The Terrace was a magnificent location for the cocktail party, set amongst the flowering roses and against the backdrop of the College buildings, with the river and city on our doorstep. The elegant décor, delicious food, music, and happy atmosphere were picture perfect. The dance floor was the place to be as parents and students kicked up a storm, dancing to the great music provided by the DJ.
We are grateful for such a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the end of the school journey for our Year 12s, so magnificently. It was also a special celebration to mark the end of a challenging and trying year for the girls. Through the COVID lockdown measures and the significant changes to how they learned, the girls have shown great resilience and adaptability.
Congratulations to our Year 12s on their graduation from Santa Maria College. We farewell you with our warmest wishes for all that lies ahead for you with study, work and careers.
