For the Love of Art – Art Day 2024

Art Day, our much-anticipated annual event, is dedicated to fostering creativity and artistic expression among students. The day celebrates diverse art forms, igniting imagination, and providing a platform for our talented students to shine. This year’s theme, ‘For the Love of Art’, resonated deeply with students, bringing a sense of passion and dedication to the event. A range of engaging activities, such as making friendship bracelets, sharing personal stories about the love of art, and creating a collaborative mural, were designed to inspire participation and celebrate the artistic spirit of our community.

The theme ‘For the Love of Art’ was chosen by Head of Visual Arts, Lesley Nation, and Art Captain, Olivia Miller. This theme encouraged students to express their deep affection for creativity and all things art. It allowed them to explore and communicate their personal connections to art, whether through painting, drawing, or mixed media. One of the highlights of the day was the announcement of the winner of the drawing competition, showcasing the incredible talent within our school. The event culminated in a sense of unity and celebration, emphasising the importance of art in our lives and education.

The Year 12 Art girls played a fundamental role in ensuring the day’s success. Their assistance in planning the activities, developing the mural, and creating a welcoming atmosphere was instrumental in making the event run smoothly. It was heartwarming to witness the Year 12s dedicating their time on the Sunday before Art Day in the installation of the new mural in the Year 12 alfresco area.  They also enjoyed dressing up inspired by their favourite artist.

Art Day was an outstanding success, and we couldn’t be prouder of the artistic spirit demonstrated by our students. Events like these serve as a reminder of art’s power to unite people and celebrate creative expression.
