From The Head of Boarding: Term 2, Week 3, 2020
RE-OPENING OF BOARDING
There was such a wonderful buzz in Boarding over the weekend. So much laughter, life and love!
There are many COVID-19 procedures in place for all in our community to adhere to. The boarders have a document that they are to read through and then sign off with their Boarding Supervisors that they have read the COVID-19 procedures document and agree to abide by these procedures.
As your daughter prepares to come back to Boarding, now or in the near future, there are a few items we suggest she brings with her:
- A small container of hand sanitiser
- Two packs of antiseptic wipes
- Any individual sporting equipment eg hockey stick, netball, basketball, footy, weights
- Any craft items, to work on their craft or to learn a new craft eg fabric scraps, wool, knitting needles, crochet hooks, paints etc
- A plastic container with a clip lock top for storage of her snacks from home to keep in her room
A NOTE FROM ONE OF OUR BOARDERS WHILE THEY WERE AT HOME
I was courageous during my time at home, walking on sheer cliffs, steep slopes, loose rocks. I also showed courage when catching fish that like to bite if you stay still for too long.
I was thankful during my time at home for the opportunities I had to explore this sacred land, especially during these crazy COVID-19 times.
All boarders are invited to attend a fitness circuit each afternoon after school on the oval. We look forward to having many groups of ten doing exercise together on the oval.
Weekend fitness sessions will also be tailored for them to be prepared for their community sports such as hockey and netball. Boarders are also encouraged to do their own fitness activities, including going for a run on the College oval or in spaces within the Boarding Community.
We are still not able to attend Mass together each week. Each Sunday at 5.00 pm, when we would normally be at Mass together, every boarder will receive a prayer focus via email. They are encouraged to stop at this time to pray for the week ahead.
MERCY DAY BOARDERS STALL
Late in Term 3 the College celebrates Mercy Day. On this day there are a wide variety of stalls and activities, which raise money for Mercy organisations. We will be hosting a boarders stall and want it to be the standout stall of the day. What will you be able to donate to this year’s Mercy Day boarders stall?
BOARDERS WEEK CELEBRATIONS
The celebrations of our boarders begin on Sunday 17 May. We will be celebrating mostly online, sharing stories from many different boarders. What photos and stories do you have to share on the Boarder Parent Facebook page about your boarding story or your daughters and/or families boarding journey?
We are collecting old pairs of jeans. Cathy Smith is going to create a mobile phone holder for the house out of pockets from old pairs of jeans. If we get lots of jeans, she will also make a mobile phone holder for each House. Your donations of old jeans will be gratefully accepted!
