From The Head of Boarding: Week 4, Term 3, 2020

OUR VALUES

Our Boarding values of trust, respect and kindness are to be lived by every member of our Boarding community. This ensures a safe, secure and happy environment for all. There have been occasions when boarders do not live these values and on these occasions will be asked to meet with me to talk to find ways to ensure they can live these values while living in Boarding.

MINGENEW VISIT

I will be going to Mingenew on Saturday 15 August for the Mingenew vs Carnamah football game and then dinner at the pub in Mingenew. During the weekend it will give me the chance to meet with families from Mingenew and surrounds. I will advertise this in the Boarder Parent’s Facebook group too. Please share with past, present and future Santa Boarding families and friends from Mingenew and surrounds as I would love to catch up with anyone in the area. Can’t wait!

BOARDER PARENT DINNER

We have decided to cancel the Boarding parent dinner for 2020 due to these uncertain times, which has created challenges in finding venues to hold such an event.

We will be having this event in 2021 and it will be a great event to bring our Boarding parents together to share a night of feasting, friendship and fun.

BEDROOM DOOR SIGNS

At the beginning of this Term each boarder was given four different door signs to use when they need some time to themselves in their rooms for different reasons.

“I like the ‘On The Phone’ sign the most so then people do not come into my room while I am having a private conversation with my parents.”
Zoe Smith, Year 7

ACADEMIC CARE

Each week, Vanessa Carmody emails boarders with various tutoring/mentoring opportunities to enhance their study skills and/or engage with a specialised teacher in a specific subject. Below is an example email of what the boarders receive each week –
