From The President

Welcome to another edition of the Santa Maria Old Girls’ Blog.

It’s been a busy few weeks for the OGA. It was lovely to see so many of our members return to the college earlier this month for the Wedding Dress Exhibition and High Tea. It was a beautiful day, with lots of special memories on display. Thank you to everyone who either attended, assisted in the organisation or helped out on the day, and of course to the wonderful women who allowed us to display their beautiful gowns.

Our next exciting event is less than a month away. Our much loved OGA Movie Night is back for another year, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be getting our dancing shoes on for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (which is, of course, the sequel to the first Mamma Mia movie). It is going to be a fantastic night, so keep Friday July 20 free, and grab your friends and family and purchase your tickets today!

There are also some other events on our calendar which we would love your help with. If you’re handy in the kitchen or have a spare couple of hours on a Tuesday night, please consider joining our homeless run. We have partnered with Homeless We Care to provide hot meals for those doing it tough. It’s a fantastic way to give back, and such a rewarding experience. Our next date is Tuesday 31 July – we’re looking for someone to co-ordinate our volunteers and cook lasagnas.

The ‘Life Lessons with a Lunchbox’ program is continuing, much to the delight of our current students. We are looking for members with a story to share with our students relating to one or more of our College Character Strengths (some examples are Honesty, Creativity, and Gratitude). Please get in touch with our Co-ordinator, Jacqui Daniels, if you are interested.

Happy reading and I look forward to seeing you soon at one of our events.

Gemma Varone (2009), President.
