From the President – February 2026
As this is my first message for the year, I would like to wish all alumni a Happy New Year for 2026.
Our first major alumni event will be the reunion next Saturday 7 February. The Class of ’76 becomes Golden Girls this year, so it’s a special milestone for them. Surreal, isn’t it?
Most of our Old Girls’ Association Committee will be there – welcoming guests, serving food and drinks, and helping behind the scenes. We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone who attends.
I would especially like to warmly welcome the Class of 2025 to our alumni community. We really value the energy and ideas of our younger members, and from this year onwards, you’re invited to join us for all alumni social events and get involved in any projects or initiatives that interest you. On that note, I encourage all alumni to consider joining the Old Girls’ Committee. The camaraderie and fun easily balance out the work involved, and it feels good to give back and stay connected. For those attending the reunion, there’ll be a chance to chat to us about the committee if you’re interested.
Other articles this month also highlight upcoming events, such as the Sisterhood Alumni Networking Series. I’ve personally found these events inspiring. I’ve learnt about careers I knew very little about, made all the more engaging by the personal stories shared. And yes, the drinks and canapés are always excellent!
To finish, I want to wish all current students the very best for the start of the school year and warmly welcome all new students. To our alumni mums, please remind your daughters not to be shy about seeking support if they need it. Learning to manage stress and ask for help is an important life skill – and a great habit to build early.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and fulfilling year ahead.
Warm regards
Mary Heavens | President, Old Girls’ Association
