The World is their Oyster.

Geography is emerging as one of the most important subjects of the 21st Century. It is more than just a subject; it is a skill and a vision that opens doors for students in an increasingly interconnected world.
One student, in particular, has excelled at putting her geographical skills and knowledge to the test. Lee-Elle Cooper, Year 8, has ranked in the top 5% of students in Australia for her age group in the 2020 Australian Geography Competition.
21 Year 7 and 8 students voluntarily participated in the competition with more than 20,000 students participating nationwide. Santa Maria’s results were impressive with three gaining High Distinctions, four Distinctions, and seven Credits. All students will receive their certificates at their year assembly on Friday.
We are proud of all of the participants who gave of their time to engage in preparation sessions at recess in the lead up to the test. We have no doubt that their love of Geography will continue to blossom and serve them, and our planet, well.
