Gone Fishing!

Gone Fishing!

Fishing is not really a pastime often associated with teenage girls, but maybe it should be. It teaches patience and persistence, while enjoying time outside on the water, what could be better?

At Santa Maria, our Year 11 Outdoor Education classes get to experience all facets of the sport during their course. Over Term 3, the class has fished at several locations, including Point Walter, North & South Mole, Jerrat Drive Jetty and East Street Jetty.

For their final, in-class lesson, the girls learned how to scale, fillet, and cook their fish. Now, having learned all the skills required, the girls are using these skills on their two-day camp at Rottnest Island. During the excursion, they will fish at different locations and camp on the island.

What a lovely end to the Year 11 Outdoor Education course.
