Goodbye Primary School, Hello High School!

As the school year comes to a close, Santa Maria College’s Year 6 students have marked the end of their primary school journey with a series of meaningful celebrations. This special occasion was all about honouring their achievements, reflecting on the experiences that have shaped them, and looking forward to the exciting opportunities of high school.

A Day of Reflection and Connection

The farewell began with a special liturgy held in the McDonald Building, where students and their families gathered to reflect on the year. The service acknowledged the friendships formed, the challenges overcome, and the values embraced during Years 5 and 6.

The morning continued with a delightful morning tea on the Terrace, where students and their families came together. The beautiful setting and warm atmosphere made for a truly memorable day.

Reflecting on their Junior School Years

In the afternoon, Year 6 students reflected on their junior school years and then created an ‘Individuali-tree’ where they documented their strengths and what grounds them, as well as their worries and what they are looking forward to in Year 7. The students finished off the day putting together vision boards to explore their goals, dreams and ambitions for the future. They used this time to think about what they wanted to achieve, the challenges they were ready to face, and the kind of person they hoped to become.

A Celebratory Evening

The Year 6 students ended their day with a celebratory evening organised by their teachers. The night was packed with fun, featuring pizzas, ice creams, a photo booth, and plenty of exciting activities. From dancing to creating unforgettable memories with friends, it was a perfect way to mark the end of their primary school journey.

Congratulations to our Year 6 students on this incredible milestone. We can’t wait to see what you achieve as you continue your Santa Maria story!
