Congratulations to Year 9 students Vienne Seneque, Olivia Palmiero and Lucy Kilroe who received a Highly Commended in the 2018 Perth Craft Show for their textiles project based on a theme of ‘Hello Petal’ inspired by designers Viktor and Rolfe.              

We asked Lucy about her project.

“To start this project, I found inspiration from designers such as Viktor and Rolfe, Alexander McQueen and Gucci. From there, I designed two garments, a coat (my final design) as well as a skirt. As I chose the coat design, I bought a red, long coat to base my project on. I found materials such as cotton, beads and mesh used in this project to create floral and natural shapes for my coat. As I made many flowers for this project, I used different patterned materials and also different beads to help give my garment depth and uniqueness. This was quite a big project to take on, but it was very satisfying seeing all my work come together to create this floral coat.”
