Hope in the Waiting – What Easter Means in 2025

As we journey through the season of Lent each year, we enter a familiar rhythm: stillness, reflection, and anticipation.

Lent calls us to pause in a world full of deadlines and constant demands, creating space to recognise and share God’s light in our everyday lives. In these quiet moments, we rediscover the deeper meaning of Easter: a story of love, courage, and the promise of new life.

This week, we gathered for a special Lenten Mass, reminding us that the Resurrection is not merely a historical event. It is a powerful message that speaks to our lives today, light overcomes darkness, and love proves stronger than fear. Through prayer and communion, we experience Christ’s rising as an invitation for us, to live with hope, to forgive freely, and to become instruments of peace.

Coming Together in Faith - Holy Week

Holy Week is the most sacred time in the Church calendar

  • Palm Sunday recalls Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem and calls us to recognise Jesus as King, not in power, but in peace.
  • Holy Thursday commemorates the Lasts Supper. It invites us to serve others, just as Jesus did when He washed the feet of His friends.
  • Good Friday urges us to reflect on sacrifice and love that asks for nothing in return.
  • Holy Saturday remembers the day Jesus spent in the grave resting. It celebrates the vigil Christ’s followers held outside his tomb.
  • Easter Sunday It is the greatest celebration because it completes Holy week that ends with the resurrection of Jesus. The moment everything changed.

As Catholics, we believe that Jesus did not just die, He rose again. That truth changes how we see our lives. It tells us that no suffering is wasted. That even when things feel hopeless, there is light ahead.

What Easter Means for Us Today

The Easter story calls us to live differently, to lead with mercy, to listen deeply, and to lift each other up.

At Santa Maria, our students are learning that real strength looks like:

  • being brave enough to apologise,
  • choosing kindness when it is challenging, and
  • standing up for those who do not have a voice.

These are not small things. These are the quiet acts of justice, compassion and service that shape Mercy women who live the Gospel values.

A Message for the Season

As we celebrate Easter, let us hold on to what really matters. Let us be people of hope. Let us keep showing up with courage, even when it’s hard. And most of all, let us remember that love always has the final word.

Wishing you and your family a joyful, hope-filled Easter. May you find moments of stillness, joy, and a deep sense of hope.
