IGSSA Swimming Carnival 2021
- March 18, 2021

After the event not going ahead in in 2020, our swimming team were excited to get into the pool on Friday for the IGSSA Swimming Carnival. According to our Head Coach, Christophe Lin, this event is louder than the Olympics. What a wonderful position we’re in to have our swimming program run by someone who knows this from firsthand experience.

Training started in Term 4 and continued throughout the summer holidays. Led by a large and enthusiastic group of Year 12s this year, our swimmers were well prepared.
There was an extra buzz around our Years 7 and 8 students who were all competing for the first time.

We had some incredible performances on the night and for many races we were on the edge of our seats as our girls swam their hearts out.

We must thank our incredible team of coaches, led by Christophe who have taught the girls so much about themselves as swimmers and individuals. Many of our coaches are past students who work with such passion and commitment.

Santa Maria finished 4th overall and is certainly closing the gap to third place. With our Year 7s finishing in second place overall, the future is looking bright for the Santa Maria swim team.
