Inspire 2025 – A Celebration of Creativity, Innovation & Community

This year’s Inspire exhibition and fashion parade once again showcased the extraordinary talents of our students, but 2025 marks our most expansive and dynamic celebration yet. With contributions from an even wider range of learning areas, this year’s event highlighted not only artistic excellence but the innovative, curious, and imaginative spirit that thrives across our College.

Our 2025 Visual Arts Captain, Elizabeth Harris, opened the evening, reflecting on how the arts inspire confidence, expression, and connection. Her introduction set the tone for a vibrant celebration honouring creativity across all disciplines.

A Showcase of Innovation Across Learning Areas

Inspire 2025 embraced an even broader collaborative approach, with impressive displays from IGNITE, Mathematics, English, Technologies, HASS, Drama, Visual Art, Design, Fashion, Food and MDT.

The Technologies learning area transformed their classroom into an immersive creative space brimming with digital innovation, engineering prototypes, and polished design solutions. IGNITE and Mathematics displays highlighted creativity through problem-solving, pattern, structure, and abstraction. HASS contributed visually rich and thought-provoking presentations, while Drama added vibrant energy to the evening through performance on the big screen.

This cross-curricular showcase made Inspire 2025 our most inclusive event yet, a true celebration of the diverse creativity within our community.

A Gallery Bursting with Visual Art & Design

The Mercy Gallery was jam-packed with outstanding Visual Art and Design work from Years 7 to 11 students. Every wall, plinth, and surface was bursting with colour, texture, and innovation, offering guests a vivid snapshot of the artistic talent and evolving skills of our students.

Highlights included:

  • Year 10 Visual Art students presented a striking ceramics collection inspired by Katherine Morling, with sculptural pieces that appeared like hand-drawn illustrations brought to life.
  • Year 7 Make & Create brought humour and charm with their playful shark wall, a joyful display of expressive, character-filled creatures.
  • Year 11 General and ATAR students contributed sophisticated artworks exploring complex ideas, conceptual depth, and advanced technique, offering viewers a deeper insight into their growing artistic voices.

The gallery was a vibrant celebration of skill, imagination, and the artistic courage our students show each day.

A Runway Alive with Creativity – Fashion Parade Highlights

The fashion parade brought incredible energy to the evening, showcasing wearable art and textile creations across multiple year levels:

  • Year 11 Design & Visual Art General opened the parade with their Spode-inspired wearable art, transforming iconic blue-and-white ceramic motifs into contemporary fashion using disperse dye, watercolour, stencilling, and embellishment.
  • Year 10 Fashion students stepped into the role of costume designers, reimagining iconic fictional characters through textiles, storytelling, and modern construction techniques.
  • Year 9 Fashion presented their own dress designs, each uniquely crafted with thoughtful fabric manipulation, decorative details, and emerging personal style.
  • Year 8 Make & Create students stunned the audience with sculptural headpieces and neckpieces inspired by Marina Polakoff and the four seasons, combining clay, woven elements, hot-glue drawings, beads, and sequins.
  • Year 9 Design debuted denim jackets inspired by Perth artist Kyle Hughes-Odgers, blending bold brushwork and stitched graphic elements to create edgy, narrative-based wearable art.
  • Year 11 Materials Design & Technology textiles transported the audience to the vibrant 1970s with garments inspired by the music, colour palettes, embellishment, and silhouettes of the decade.
  • Year 10 Design closed with breathtaking large-scale sculptural pieces inspired by dragonfly and butterfly wings, made from cane, tissue paper, beads, metallic leaf, wire, and feathers.

The runway was a powerful celebration of imagination, confidence, and the students’ ability to bring ambitious creative ideas to life.
