Interschool Spelling Bee
The annual Interschool Spelling Bee was hosted by Santa Maria College today. Five primary schools brought their best spellers along from Years 4 – 6 to compete in a friendly, but very strong spelling competition.
This year the schools involved with Santa Maria were Yidarra, St Benedict’s, St Augustine’s, and Queen of Apostles. We were very fortunate to have the ICT team from Mother Teresa College in Baldivis come and live stream the event.
We are very proud of the girls involved. Our participants were Summer Golding and Sofia Galeano Riveros from Year 5, and Naomi Karczub and Johanna Kingsbury from Year 6.
Due to current restrictions, we were unable to have parents present to support their children this year. Everyone had a wonderful time, and it is encouraging to see so many young children with such strong spelling skills. More importantly, they showed such poise, grace, good manners, and a strong sense of team support and collegiality.
It was a very positive experience for everyone involved.
