Isabella Nominated for Two Community Service Awards

Year 12 student Isabella Robertson, has completed more than 400 hours of community service over two years (Years 11 and 12). She has been an active, committed and passionate advocate of community service and finds enjoyment from helping people in need.

Isabella is compassionate in her approach to everyone she meets, especially the elderly and young. She volunteers at a number of different agencies and is a great example of how to incorporate community service into one’s life. Head of Service Learning, Liz van der Zanden, has nominated Isabella for the South Perth Volunteer of the Year Award and Community Citizen of the Year Award.

Isabella belongs to the South Perth Youth Network (SPYN) where she helps organise events for youth in the community. The group has a focus on issues that are current and local. Isabella has committed herself to the SPYN for three years. She dedicates her time there because she is passionate about being involved in the community to meet new people and work on projects as a team. The SPYN has given Isabella good leadership skills and has taught her the importance of participating in local activities.

Isabella also belongs to the St Columbus Parish where she dedicates her time assisting wherever there is a need. She is an altar server, participates in the readings, is part of the Tidy Church Group, assists with Children’s Liturgy and helps with morning tea. One of her favourite roles is assisting at Christmas time at the ‘Christmas Cheer’ event where she serves and prepares food for the parish.

Since 2017, Isabella has volunteered at the Concorde Nursing Home where she helps call the Bingo numbers. Isabella also helps out on Australia Day at the South Perth foreshore; setting up and running stalls for the children at the Kid’s Zone. This gives her much enjoyment because the children are full of fun and energy, so Isabella feels happy that she can make their day special.

Isabella is a passionate advocate for improving the lives of disadvantaged people in the community and is selfless in her actions and willingness to give of her time to help others. We congratulate her on her nominations.
