It’s Health Week

What is Health Week?

Health Week is all about encouraging staff and students to take some time out to think about their health. We so often get caught up in the day to day and can sometimes put less emphasis on our health and wellbeing.

Year 10 Health Expo

Santa Maria celebrated Health Week this week with a variety of activities on offer for staff and students. The highlight of the week would have to be the Year 10 Health Expo, run by the students as part of their Health Education projects. Staff and students visited over 60 stalls at the Expo and learnt more about health issues such as nutrition, road safety, sleep, body image and stress management, just to name a few. There certainly was a buzz throughout the Hall!

R U OK? Day

Focusing on our mental health, we concluded the week’s events yesterday with R U OK? Day.  Wellbeing Captain, Evie, reminded us that “You don’t need to be an expert to reach out – just a good friend and a great listener. Remember, one conversation can change a life!”.

Our Mental Health Ambassadors promoted this message amongst the students and helped run some table tennis activities at lunchtime, inviting students to check in with a friend and spend some time with them while having fun.

It has been a great week and a good opportunity to think about the many aspects of our health!
