Jasmine Wins Caritas Art Award

The Angelico Exhibition for Catholic Students is a prestigious annual event on the Catholic school art calendar. The Exhibition is named after Blessed Fra Angelico, Patron before God of Artists.

At the awards evening on Wednesday night, Year 12 Art student, Jasmine Della Bona, won the very prestigious Caritas Award for her piece ‘Hope’. Jasmine said about her artwork, “My piece is titled ‘Hope’. The boy behind the fence represents the marginalised in our society and the fence is symbolic of the obstacles that many of us face on a daily basis. The colour in the hands represents hope for the future. I used my brother as the model and my piece is drawn in lead and coloured pencil.”

Five other Santa Maria students were also selected to exhibit. There are six artworks from each school chosen each year. The other girls are Year 9 student Sophie Fowler, Year 11 student Jess Colley and from Year 12, Charlotte Stapleton, Aubrey Basuki and Jasmine Della Bona, Cailee Lamond.
